From the supplier: An increasing number of smaller, domestic reinsurers have closed their business because they have not been able to assess their exposure concentrations as well as bigger firms, and have not been able to attract preferred accounts, according to American Re-Insurance Chmn and CEO Edward Jobe. This trend has benefitted reinsurance firms that are more capitalized. However, Brokers and Reinsurance Markets Association Pres Robert Gilligan believes that the smaller broker market is still strong.
